How the Two Rates Work
Your account automatically moves between two fixed rates — High and Low — based on the season, and whichever one you're on applies to both your imports and your exports for that period.
- High rate runs during the months you're typically exporting more than you import (spring through summer) —you're paid our higher rate for the extra power going back to the grid.
- Low rate runs during the months you're typically importing more than you export (fall through winter) you pay our lower rate on the power you're pulling from the grid.
Most solar homes in Alberta follow this same seasonal pattern, so your rate shifts right along with it, up in the spring, back down in the fall. No logging in, no remembering to switch, it's built in.
